RNWY02 Lamp

  • Similar to the RNWY01 lamp, the RNWY02 was inspired by ultra-functional objects that we often overlook but rely on, such as traffic lights, road signs, and airport runway lights. These items are usually invisible to most but are often ingenious engineering designs that embody simplicity, purity, and humility.

RNWY02 is a floor lamp with an adjustable lighting direction. It can be set horizontally, like a runway light, or vertically to function as an uplighter.

This lamp is assembled with just a couple of screws, and all its wooden parts are made from repurposed local factory waste. The stone base is cut from offcuts from a local stonemason and is the same granite used on many streets and urban areas in Malmö, southern Sweden. This lamp is completely circular, and every part can be easily disassembled for repair or, at the end of its long lifespan, recycling.

As an example of the circularity thinking behind this product, the stone weight sits on, but is not fixed to the plywood base. This assists in the assembly and disassembly, as well as keeping this lamps extreme functional simplicity.
